Scope
This policy describes the Dove iOS app, its public website and information you choose to send to support. Website and support processing are separate from your local app journal.
Your study stays on your device
Notes, reflections, reading history and progress are stored locally. Dove does not require an account, collect app analytics, display advertising, sell your journal or send journal contents to a developer-operated server. The journal does not sync through CloudKit. Apple controls device security, diagnostics and platform backups under your settings and Apple's policies.
On-device explanations
Explain context and follow-up questions use Apple's on-device Foundation Models when available, with no cloud AI fallback. Apple controls system-model installation and availability. Selected words or verses, or the chapter when nothing is selected, are used to generate the requested explanation. Built-in reading guidance remains available when generation is unavailable. Generated explanations are interpretations and can be wrong; verify them against Scripture.
Listening and audio storage
The bundled Michael voice generates English narration locally. Alternative Apple voices may need downloading before offline use. Dove does not record audio or request microphone access. Up to 200 MB of generated Scripture audio is kept in a rolling local cache, excluded from platform backups. Older audio may be removed automatically or reclaimed by iOS. You can clear it in Listening settings without deleting journal entries. This cache does not contain reflections or AI conversations. Voice and speed preferences may be included in platform-managed backups.
Backups and sharing
The journal database is excluded from automatic device backups. Reading position, achievement flags, appearance and voice preferences may be included in platform-managed backups. You can export journal backups encrypted with a passphrase you provide. Dove cannot recover a forgotten passphrase. Large journals use numbered backup files; every part is needed for complete recovery. Export encryption does not mean that the entire local journal is separately encrypted with a user-held key.
Sharing and exporting begin when you choose those actions. You choose where exports are saved or shared. Files providers may upload exported files under their own settings and privacy policies. Other apps and recipients process shared data under their own policies.
Retention and deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you remove it or uninstall Dove. You can delete individual reflections in My Notes and clear generated audio in Listening settings. Uninstalling removes local app data; separately exported or shared copies remain with your chosen recipients or providers. Manage those copies separately. Preserve a usable encrypted backup before reinstalling or replacing your device.
Website and support
The website has no access to your app journal and has no support form. No project-installed advertising or analytics scripts are used. Hosting and asset-delivery providers may process standard request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs and browser information to deliver and protect the site; their security mechanisms may use technical cookies. Following external links brings you under those services' policies.
If you email support, you disclose the address, message and attachments you choose to send. We use that information to handle your request; the email provider may also process it. Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle requests and meet applicable obligations. You may request deletion by emailing us; information that must be retained for applicable legal obligations may be kept. Never send backup passphrases or your full private journal. We cannot access or remotely erase the journal on your device.
Children
Dove does not require an account or collect app analytics. Parents or guardians should guide children when exporting files, sharing reflections or contacting support, since these actions can disclose information to recipients and service providers.
